Nepal Annapurna Muscatel

A summer harvest from the Lwang Tea Estate in central Nepal, situated near the renowned Annapurna and Machapuchare mountain ranges. Long, longitudinally rolled, fully oxidised leaves of a dark brown colour with a sweet, woody aroma. A dark brown infusion with a full-bodied, distinctive and rich flavour, featuring notes of sugar cane and ripe fruit, with a pleasant, lingering astringency in the finish.

How to brew Nepal Annapurna Muscatel

Use 5 grams of tea leaves for 0.5 litre of boiling water cooled to 85-90 °C, steep for 3-5 minutes. Feel free to experiment with steeping time, water temperature, and the amount of tea leaves. You can also read our articles on tea preparation and water quality.
 

Lwang Tea Estate, Nepal

A tea garden near the village of Lwang located about 30 km northwest of Pokhara in central Nepal. The relatively small garden covers 0.66 hectares at an altitude of about 1700 metres at the foot of one of the most beautiful Himalayan peaks, Machapuchare. The fishtail-like mountain is sacred to the Nepalese and has never been climbed by any mountaineering expedition. The garden was founded twenty years ago by an association of sixteen local families of the Gurung ethnic group and the tea is grown here in harmony with the local beautiful nature without the use of chemicals. It is planted with clonal shrubs sourced from Darjeeling.
