Three basic tea styles in one pack. Black, green and white tea represent three distinct methods of processing tea leaves, and each offers a different taste experience. We have put this selection together to show, over the course of a few cups, just how varied the world of quality tea can be. It is ideal for those new to tea, as well as for anyone who wants to taste the different varieties side by side. With this bundle, you’ll save 5 per cent off the original price on tea.
If you’re just starting out with high-quality loose-leaf tea, this selection is the ideal place to begin. Three carefully selected teas represent the three best-known tea styles and demonstrate just how significantly they can differ in flavour, aroma and character. In the descriptions, we use comparisons to the aromas of fruit, flowers and the like, but these are all pure teas, without any additives.
Black – Organic Dian Hong Golden Monkey
A black tea from the southern Chinese province of Yunnan, grown on tea plantations under a certified organic farming regime. Beautifully processed, fully oxidised, evenly rolled leaves consisting mainly of golden, downy buds (one bud plus one young leaf), with a full and rich aroma of dried fruit and cocoa. A chestnut-brown infusion with a full, rounded flavour dominated by notes of dried fruit and sweet spices, with a pleasant astringency in the finish.
Green – Organic Sencha Kabusé No. 2
Sencha from the second, June harvest of semi-shaded bushes grown organically in Kagoshima, Japan, in the very south of the island of Kyushu. The tea has a matt, metallic-green, finer leaf with a grassy, lightly roasted, sweet aroma. The bright green infusion has a fresh, rounded and smooth flavour with pleasant vegetal notes, a scent of mandarin peel and a delicate, full-bodied aftertaste. This tea, from the second main phase of the harvest, has a slightly higher caffeine content with a pleasantly invigorating effect.
White – Nepal Farmers White
White tea from Ilam in Nepal. Beautifully processed, lightly oxidised, rolled lengthways, with whole, unbroken dry leaves consisting exclusively of young, silvery, downy leaves. A pale, golden-green infusion with a delicate herbal, sweetly creamy flavour, featuring notes of lime blossom, a hint of nuts and floral honey.
