A summer harvest from the Farmers’ garden in Ilam, eastern Nepal. Beautifully processed, lightly rolled leaves consisting solely of golden, downy tips. A pastel-brown infusion with a delicate, creamy-smooth, beautifully balanced flavour featuring notes of creamy honey, sweet wood, nuts and cocoa.
How to brew Farmers Golden Needles tea
Use 5 grams of tea leaves for 0.5 litre of boiling water cooled to 85- 90 °C; steep for 2–3 minutes. Feel free to experiment with steeping time, water temperature, and the amount of tea leaves. You can also read our articles on tea preparation and water quality.
The garden is located in the Ilam region in the far east of the country, near the border with Darjeeling, at an elevation of 1,750 meters and covers an area of 0.35 hectares. It is a relatively new (19-year-old) project run by a local family of Rai ethnicity. The processed tea comes partly from this small family garden and partly from neighboring farmers.
