A Chinese green tea originating from the mountainous regions of Sichuan Province, one of China’s oldest tea-growing regions. Beautifully processed, evenly rolled dry leaves consisting exclusively of downy tip leaves with a delicate, sweet, floral aroma. The light green infusion has a rich, lively, buttery-sweet flavor with a varied palette of fruity notes and a hint of green asparagus in the aftertaste.

How to brew Sichuan Maofeng

Use 5 g of tea leaves per 0.5 l of water that has been brought to a boil and cooled to 65–70 ᵒC; steep for 1 minute. This tea can also be prepared the Asian way with multiple infusions: Use 5 g of tea leaves per 150 ml of water that has been boiled and cooled to 65–70 ᵒC; steep for 20 seconds. For subsequent infusions, steep for 30, 40, and 60 seconds. Feel free to experiment with steeping time, water temperature, and the amount of tea leaves. The local tea gardens are situated in a pristine mountain environment characterized by frequent fog, high humidity, and significant differences between day and night temperatures. These conditions allow young leaves to grow slowly, resulting in teas with exceptional delicacy, pronounced sweetness, and a rich aromatic profile. The designation “Jipin” (极品) denotes the highest quality grade, reserved for teas from carefully selected harvest.
